“Updated toys” explores how to balance analogue and digital activities in order to provide a way to play that is responsible in regards to children’s individual and social development as well as to prevent the negative effects of technology addiction. The project proposes a collection of three toys: a ball, a rope and a hoop that activate a digitial interface. It uses the benefits of traditional games related to physical movement and social interaction but develops this further by adding a digital layer that expands the experience of playing into a challenging, unexpected and endless collections of games. The goal is to update what we have around us in order to provide responsible objects for future generations that challenge some of the negative effects of digital immersive activities.
